Dunmore East Golf Classic celebrates 20 years of great golf!

Back in 1992 well known Dunmore East hotelier Charlie Boland had a vision of bringing golf to the picturesque County Waterford fishing village. The premise of the very first Dunmore East Golf Classic was to bring golfers of all levels to the sunny South East to compete on some of the country’s most prestigious golf courses.

With the hard work and enthusiasm of Charlie’s son, Tony, who took over the reigns in 2010 and the dedicated Discover Dunmore team, the Dunmore East Golf Classic has grown progressively and is proud to be celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2012.

From April 30th to May 3rd visitors from Ireland, the UK and further afield will have the opportunity to play on some of Waterford’s renowned golf courses, including Dunmore East, Waterford Castle, Tramore and Faithlegg Golf Courses.

These courses offer a challenging test balanced perfectly with beauty and charm to welcome every level of golfing enthusiast.

From the striking sea views of Dunmore East golf club which overlooks the stunning Dunmore Bay and Hook Head in Co. Wexford to Ireland’s only true island golf resort, the Des Smyth designed Waterford Castle golf club, the locations are guaranteed to challenge and captivate golfers of all levels.

Coupled with the courses is the charm of Dunmore East itself. Picture postcard thatched cottages, traditional pubs and award winning restaurants are in plentiful supply in the quaint county Waterford fishing village.

According to Tony Boland, Classic Organiser, the success of the Classic is as a result of a combination of factors. “Over the last twenty years we have worked hard to ensure that the Dunmore East Golf Classic combines the best golfing and tourism experience.”

“The courses we have chosen are both challenging and impressive, and Dunmore East itself retains a tranquil old world charm that is hard to find elsewhere – the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day of golf.”

Dunmore East Golf Classic is offering a team of four golfers the unique opportunity to take place in the Classic from April 30th to May 3rd and will also provide five nights accommodation in a Trident self-catering holiday villa, four rounds of golf and a four course meal each evening after golf.
